The Mead Journal: Tastings This Weekend

Another work week down, and the weekend is finally upon us! As we officially say goodbye to summer and begin to welcome autumn, we decided to put together a mead lineup that combines the best of both seasons. Hopefully the complex and comforting flavors will help to ease the transition. Stop in for a complimentary tasting this weekend!

Mead: Oregon Mead and Cider Company (Portland, OR)

Varietal: Mosaic (6.25% ABV)

Notes: With a yeasty aroma, mild hoppy bitterness, and a clean finish, this hopped mead very closely resembles a traditional and fresh IPA. It is also the only hopped mead in our shop that uses a single varietal honey!

Pairs well with: Typical American fare: grilled meats and veggies, sharp cheeses, or a charcuterie plate.

Mead: Eaglemount Wine and Cider (Port Townsend, WA)

Varietal: Cyser (8.0% ABV)

Notes: This apple mead is tart with granny smith apples, with notes of fresh wax on the nose.
Pairs well with: An excellent accompaniment to your final barbeque of the summer! Pair it with burgers or even tacos!

Mead: Charm City Meadworks (Baltimore, MD)

Varietal: Strawberry Ginger (12.0% ABV)

Notes: This tart and bright mead is here to let you savor the last moments of summer with berry undertones and a warming ginger finish.
Pairs well with: Get creative with your favorite Mexican, Thai, Indian, or mediterranean cuisine!

Available on tap for growler fills:

Pineapple IPA (Viking Braggot Company, 6.7% ABV)

Worker Farmhouse (Oregon Mead and Cider Co., 6.25% ABV)

Apple (Redstone Meadery, 8.0% ABV)

Happy Gnome (Ethereal Meads, 6.0% ABV)
