The Mead Journal - Tastings This Weekend

This weekend, we’re keeping it local! Every mead on our tasting menu is made right here in Oregon. Join us as we celebrate this great state and its love of craft brews! What better way to do so than stopping in this weekend for a complimentary tasting of Oregon’s finest meads?

Mead: Nectar Creek (Corvallis, OR)

Varietal: Chicory (6.0% ABV)

Notes: Using a single varietal honey from the bright blue chicory fields of the Willamette Valley, this light and smooth mead has an aroma of apples and a subtly spicy finish.

Pairs well with: Grilled burgers and summer salads

Mead: Fringe Mead (Portland, OR)

Varietal: Smoking Coyote (8.5% ABV)

Notes: Fringe Mead is at it again, this time with a mead brewed with a perfect balance of lime and chipotle chilis. The nose is spicy, but it quickly softens into a mildly sweet finish.

Pairs well with: Classic Mexican food topped with cilantro

Mead: Chateau Lorane (Lorane, OR)

Varietal: Vandal Gold (12.0% ABV)

Notes: A unique balance of spicy and sweet, this golden blonde mead features buckwheat honey, a full body, and notes of grass, wildflowers, and burnt sugar.

Pairs well with: A simple cheese plate with soft cheeses-- think English aged cheddar, dried cherries, and roasted hazelnuts!

Available on tap for growler fills:

Pineapple IPA (Viking Braggot Company, 6.7% ABV)

Blackberry Basil (Fringe Meadery, 8.5% ABV)

Chicory (Nectar Creek Meads, 6% ABV)

Happy Gnome (Ethereal Meads, 6% ABV)
