The Mead Journal: Tastings This Weekend

The Mead Journal: Tastings This Weekend

Last week, we were honored to welcome friends from San Francisco Mead Company to host a special tasting at Mead Market. We just can’t say goodbye to that California sunshine quite yet, so we’re keeping it going this weekend, too! Stop in this weekend to taste three more meads from SF Mead Co:

Mead: San Francisco Mead Company (San Francisco, CA)

Varietal: Orange Blossom (13% ABV)

Notes: This traditional dry mead was made with orange blossom honey from Ojai, California and aged in French and American oak barrels. Plenty of citrus and oak notes carry through the body to create a wonderfully balanced and drinkable mead.

Pairs well with: Seafood dishes—Pair it with your next oyster night!

Mead: San Francisco Mead Company (San Francisco, CA)

Varietal: Blackberry (14% ABV)

Notes: This blackberry melomel was aged for one year on French and American oak barrels, and it shows! Lots of blackberry and dark cherry on the nose, with notes of oak in the body.

Pairs well with: Roasted beets, lamb, or any mushroom dish.

Mead: San Francisco Mead Company (San Francisco, CA)

Varietal: California Gold (13% ABV)

Notes: Made with raw honey from the Mendocino Forest, this dry mead has a smooth oaky body and resembles a light whiskey!

Pairs well with: Pot roast, roasted root vegetables, or mushroom risotto

Bonus! Choose one more off tap to complete your tasting experience. Also available for growler fills!

Free Press Cyser (Oregon Mead and Cider Co, 6.5% ABV)

Orange Cardamom (Fringe Mead, 8.5% ABV)

Triple Brett (Nectar Creek, 6.5% ABV)

Black Raspberry Nectar (Redstone Meadery, 8.0% ABV)
